STEFANI BARBER's work has appeared or is forthcoming in the anthologies Bay
Poetics (Faux Press, 2006), hinge: a BOAS anthology (Crack Press, 2002), and
the journals Tripwire, Syllogism, Kenning, Five Fingers Review and The
Capilano Review, among others.  She is a member of the Small Press Traffic
board and currently lives in San Francisco pursuing a career in journalism.

AARON KUNIN is a poet, critic, and novelist.  His work has appeared in The
Germ, No: A Journal of the Arts, and The Poker.  Folding Ruler Star, a
collection of small poems about shame, was published by Fence Books in 2005;
a novel, The Mandarin is forthcoming in 2007.  He recently moved to
California, where he is an assistant professor of negative anthropology at
Pomona College.

Ted Berrigan (15 November, 1934 – 4 July, 1983) has had his Collected Poems, edited by Alice Notley with Anselm Berrigan and Edmund Berrigan (introduction and notes by Alice Notley), newly issued in a nearly 800-page volume by the University of California Press. Family, local friends and fellow poets will all be on the premises to celebrate the poet’s work and his legacy. The Collected Poems of Ted Berrigan lets us in on “The truth doing its work, ‘the great man doing the ordinary thing,’ with a quick ear and a quick tongue, revealing the personal in the universal. He gives you his full attention – ‘about to be born again thinking of you.’” —Joanne Kyger

Guests for this Saturday evening special event will include Alice Notley, Anselm Berrigan, Edmund Berrigan, along with local friends Bill Berkson, Clark Coolidge, Dick Gallup, Joanne Kyger, Duncan McNaughton, Kit Robinson, and others tba.

We’ll also screen video footage of Ted Berrigan reading his poems in San Francisco in the 1970s, from the Poetry Center’s Archives.

Alice Notley is one of our great poets, presenting us over the past decades with an exceptional, lyrical-epical poetic work of vision and heart— from her early poems of shining, on-target clarity in the ’70s to later books The Descent of Alette, Mysteries of Small Houses, Disobedience. She makes a rare visit from her home in Paris, reading on this special occasion with her two sons.

Anselm Berrigan is author of Zero Star Hotel and Integrity & Dramatic Life (both Edge Books). He lives in New York City where he directs The Poetry Project at St Marks Church.

Edmund Berrigan lives, works, and sings in New York City. He is the author of Disarming Matter (Owl Press), and most recently Your Cheatin’ Heart (furniture press)

About the Poets:

Born in 1977, Anthony Hawley grew up in New England and was educated at Columbia
University. He is the author of the chapbooks Afield (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2005)
and Vocative (Phylum Press, 2004), and his poems have appeared in various publications
including The Denver Quarterly, The New Republic, The Paris Review, 26, and Volt. He
currently lives in Nebraska with his wife and daughter and is on the faculty of the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln.. The Concerto Form (Shearsman Books, 2006) is his
first full-length collection.

Tanya Brolaski exposes the lives of celebrities in  Letters to Hank Williams 
(True West Press 2003), The Daily Usonian (Atticus/Finch 2004), Madame Bovary's
Diary (Cy Press 2005) and Swimming for Dummies (http://tanyabrolaski.blogspot.com).
She co-curates the Holloway Poetry Series at UC Berkeley, where she studies rhyme.
